Join us on the journey at Brookhaven UMC. We invite all people to this Christian community, reflecting the diversity of the Brookhaven neighborhood and the world as we seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world! Our Mission: To invite, empower, and engage others on the journey of discipleship.
Join us as we welcome Jordan Grassi to the outdoor stage of our parking lot at 6:30PM on Saturday, August 2. This "Chastain-style concert" is free – bring your family and friends along with lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics! Jordan Grassi is a singer/songwriter originally from Key West. With influences from Brad Paisley to Shania Twain, Jordan strives to create something uniquely different and heartfelt with every song she writes. Come join us for an evening of fun!
Brookhaven UMC's weekly clothes closet needs clothing and volunteers! We provide clothing to several dozen men and women each week, many of whom are homeless or near homeless, by helping them to acquire the beginning of a wardrobe. The clothes closet is open each Monday at 6:00PM, and we need volunteers to staff the clothes closet, as well as volunteers to sort incoming donations and to acquire necessary clothing items that have not been donated. If you are interested in being a part of this vital community outreach, please contact our associate pastor, Don Shannon at email@example.com. We also accept clothing donations on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00AM-4:00PM, and at other times by appointment; contact our pastor, Wesley Sanders at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange a donation at other times.
Join us in worship this August for campmeeting worship! Campmeeting is a tradition of Methodism going back to our earliest days where we gathered together for a time of spirited preaching and music. Brookhaven will celebrate some "campmeeting style" worship in August, but unlike the Methodists of old, we will enjoy this worship with the comfort of air conditioning. Join us for worship at 11AM each week, and enjoy favorites old and new from the Cokesbury Hymnal and the United Methodist hymnal. Each Sunday we will have a time for you to choose your favorite hymns, and dress will be casual. We look forward to seeing you.
Each week in worship, our pastor says "This is the Word of God for the people of God" and the congregation responds "Thanks be to God." But why do we say the Bible is the Word of God? Where did we get the Bible? And how does it apply to our lives? These questions and more will be the topic of our fall Bible study led by Pastor Wesley. This study will begin Thursday, August 28 at 7PM. If you're interested or have questions you'd like to see explored, email Pastor Wesley at email@example.com.
