Join us on the journey at Brookhaven UMC. We invite all people to this Christian community, reflecting the diversity of the Brookhaven neighborhood and the world as we seek to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world! Our Mission: To invite, empower, and engage others on the journey of discipleship.
On Saturday, May 3 at 6:30PM, we will have a gospel concert featuring the Layne Smith band in the parking lot at the church. This will be a "Chastain-style" concert – you are invited to bring your whole family and join us for this exciting event. Tickets are available for a suggested donation of $10, with a table for 10 at $75. We will also have food and childcare available! We look forward to having you join us.
Beginning Saturday, May 3, we will be participating in our annual Habitat for Humanity build. Each Saturday (Memorial Day excepted) we will be working with our partner churches to help build a house as a "hand up" to a homeowner, Ms. Hardy. Ms. Hardy is a driver/cashier for a parking company near the airport. Her mother is a Habitat homeowner. Ms. Hardy is very excited about being a second generation Habitat homeowner, and building her own 3 bedroom home in the same neighborhood as her mother. The family spends a lot of time together and they are eager for another home in which to hold family gatherings. These builds are from 8AM-3PM, and we need your help! If you would like to sign up to be a part of this worthy mission, contact Patti Zang at firstname.lastname@example.org.
King David, Paul, Mother Teresa, John Wesley, Augustine… These names raise in our minds the faithful and righteous of God. They seemed to serve God with a resolve that seems all too impossible for us today. Yet, all of them struggled with God in one way or another. All of them faced challenges in their spiritual lives that forced them to reconsider how they understood God and how they imagined their own lives and ministries. Beginning this Easter season, April 27, we will begin a new sermon series where we look at the ordinary lives of these saints, see how they struggled with God, and see how their struggles might be an example for us as we seek to be more faithful. Join us each Sunday during worship at 11AM!
